Stress builds quickly…

…on this shift.

They have some of the worst radio discipline ever. This is the same shift that is always pulling cars over (always, I’m not kidding), and their poor radio discipline is pretty much a universal feature. So it tends to be a rough shift to work with.

The problems run a bit deeper, but suffice it to say that these people, while nice as people, are bad for the mental and emotional wellbeing of dispatchers.

On top of that, today has been slammed. We had a period of about half an hour where I had quite literally 0 mark units available. This is a double-Sgt, double-Lt shift too, and every single one of my units was tied up. Now, this isn’t a big deal when we’re running four beat units, and all-beat, and a pair of supervisors, but this shift is 7 beat units, two all-beat units, and four supervisors. So, yeah, it’s been really busy.

The combination of the two has been rough, I’m glad tomorrow is a Saturday, hopefully things will slow down a bit.
