A final family vacation, day one, notes

These are my notes from the trip so far. It’s only been about six hours, and most of that food and driving…

  • (18:16:19) Me: Okay, we’ve just pulled off at the hat and boot store on I-85. I shall return with amusing pictures!

  • (18:30:52) Me: This one’s at exit 70 in AL
  • (18:31:10) Me: My dad looked for new hats, he really liked this one
  • (18:31:28) Me: Delanne was looking at ridiculously over-priced boots, like this
  • (18:32:55) Me: They were playing crazy gospel music. The one that I first noticed was ‘Amazing Grace’ as a harmonica duet.
  • (18:35:25) Me: I went back to the car, having depressingly realized that the battery in my camera is running low and that I failed to pack my charger. I’m going to be very, very carefully trying to eke the remaining half-hour of charge out across the weekend.
  • (18:35:56) Me: My dad returns to the car trying to entice Marie into shopping for cowboy boots. It was predictably a failure.
  • (18:48:40) Me: All back in the car now, Delanne with boots, dad with a hat. The boots Delanne got are not the ones she posed with, which is sort of amusing. Dad borrowed my knife to cut the price tag from his new hat.
  • (18:53:44) Me: Back eastbound on I-85, heading toward Atlanta. It’s interesting to be rolling and online. Normally I have my laptop with me wherever I go, and I’ll use it in the car, but now I’m _online_ using it in the car, which is something altogether different.
  • (UNKNOWN) Me: Somewhere in here we stopped at a gas station for some coffee. Marie convinced me to buy her candy: candy corn and rollos. Delanne picked up one of those monster cans of Arizona ginseng tea. Back on the road
  • (I-75 now), headed toward TN.

  • (22:38:15) Me: And so we arrive at our hotel.

Tomorrow we get up early and go rafting. Should be quite a bit of fun. I’ll try to get some good pictures. With my camera low on power and without a charger for the trip, I won’t be uploading any of the pictures until I get home. I’m also going to try to make these notes into actual posts then, we’ll see how it goes.

I take it that you did end up with a data plan for your phone?
