I figured that with Christmas approaching, and with my habit of totally forgetting titles and then looking them up in the archives of my LiveJournal, I should put together a list of media I would rather enjoy owning.
- Dan Hess’ Angel Moxie: the Complete Annotated Collection is, shockingly the complete and annotated collection of Hess’ extremely fun webcomic Angel Moxie which I have mentioned before and which, now that Hess has completed it, is available in its entirety online (and is interestingly set up to cycle daily in case you are new to the series and want to treat it like an episodic piece of media).
- Avatar The Last Airbender - The Complete Book 1 Collection. I like Avatar. A lot. I want it on DVD. (Interesting marketing note: the Amazon list price for the DVD boxed set is actually just over $4 more than if I got each episode digitally delivered for $1.99 a piece. On-demand digital delivery is closer and closer every day.)
- Michael Stackpole’s Talion: Revenant. I consider this to be, without question, Stackpole’s best work of fiction. It’s virtually impossible to find in meat-world book stores, and my copy has managed to lose itself (with an entire box of my trade paperbacks, sadly the box with the hardest to replace books) in a move at some point.
- Aeon Flux (widescreen edition). The first of three female sex object/action movies released within about 12 months of each other (the other two being the aforementioned Ultraviolet and the unmentionable Underworld: Evolution). I have vague ambitions to do a comparison paper on the three films, and possibly to take a look at the cultural and comercial contexts that brought these together. Not that they formed a new genre or anything, but they were all marketed similarly and in my head they are a set.
- Guitar Hero 2 (With guitar!). Seriously.
and I are almost done with the first. We’re going to need something new to occupy our time. Also, it supposedly has awesome multiplayer akchun. - The Complete Gilbert and Sullivan Boxed Set. I’m pretty sure I’ve drooled over this one before, but dang I still want this puppy bad. Of course I could buy almost everything else on this list at once for less money than I’d pay for this box of 24 CDs… (Oh, and as long as I’m wishing, I’d love a copy of The Complete Annotated Gilbert and Sullivan which is a parallel collection of the libretti of all the G&S stuff w/ stage directions and a running commentary with cultural notes.)
- A boxed set of Scrapped Princess. A collected version hasn’t (to my knowledge) been released yet, but I want one anyway.
- A pony. Not precisely a piece of media, but while I’m compiling semi-ridiculous lists of stuff I want I figured it’d be worth tossing this one in there.
- World peace.
Ultraviolet (widescreen edition). I know almost no one besides myself who much enjoyed the film, but I wouldn’t mind owning a copy assuming it could be found on the cheap. And widescreen because I’m a snob for such things.
That’s enough pining/archiving for now.
